Robs Import Repair is a family owned and operated full service import repair facility located in Appleton WI, servicing the communities of Appleton, Combined Locks, Little Chute, Kimberly, Darboy, Freedom, and Wrightstown.
We specialize in foreign car repair, specifically European and Asian mechanical repair and maintenance. We are committed to your 100% satisfaction. We want to provide exceptional service to those willing to invest in the safety and reliability of a properly maintained vehicle. Its WHAT we do and HOW we do it that sets us apart from any other shop around.
My brakes are making noise – how much is that to fix? This is a GREAT question! It’s one we get every day. The answer is we have no idea. It’s like calling your doctor and asking for a price to get a knee replaced. He has NO IDEA without doing a proper test or inspection. Here are a few questions we get over and over, and some things that we learned over the years doing repairs.
- No 2 repairs are the same. This means even if we have done the same type of repairs 100 times before, there is no possible way we can know what the exact issue is with your car. So, if we don’t have the right info, we can’t make an informed decision of the exact needs and costs to repair your particular issue.
- We get asked “can you give me a ballpark of what XYZ costs?” Again, not having the information and just simply throwing out a number just to get you in the door is not in your best interest. What if we say XX is $350 bucks and you feel this is too much so we never meet? Another shop says “its probably $50 to fix it”. You end up at the other shop and guess what “well after seeing the problem its $XX to fix it. The bottom line is if we are unable to inspect the vehicle and to see the ACTUAL issue, we will never be able to properly price out a repair for you.
- “I had it at the dealer (or another shop) and they say it needs XXX. How much for you to do it?” This also falls into the “if we can’t see it, we can’t properly estimate the problem.” There are a few pitfalls for us when we talk to new customers who have these questions. First of all, just because the dealer says it needs something doesn’t mean it truly does. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn’t. We have fixed SO MANY VEHICLES THAT OTHER SHOPS HAVE “DIAGNOSED” INCORRECTLY. We never take someone else’s word for it.
- If you are calling us for a price for a repair that another shop quoted you, ask yourself the real reason for the call. Do you feel uncomfortable with their service? Are you not trusting them for some other reason? We would love to help you with your vehicle. We want to BUILD A RELATIONSHIP with you. Giving you a low-ball price to get you in the door is never going to win you over long term. Again, we need to get our hands on your vehicle, do some testing to find out exactly what WE determine to be the issue, and move forward.
When you bring your vehicle to Robs, we are most interested in making 100% sure your vehicle is safe and reliable. We also want YOU to know everything that is happening SO YOU CAN MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION. Our safety and reliability inspections are the best in the industry. Most people are astonished at the detail and thoroughness of our inspections.
We are known for TESTING. We do not “hook your car up to a computer and then throw some parts at it” to see if its fixed. Most of the time, there are specific tests that we can run in order to pinpoint the exact issue that is causing your issues. We always perform testing 1st because this is the most cost-effective way for you and getting to the bottom of the problem. Most of the time, after our initial testing we will have answers about the actual cause of the issue. At that point, we will provide an exact cost breakdown to fix the issue. Sometimes we need to perform additional testing. You will know exactly what we tested, the results of those tests, and what our plan is for the next tests BEFORE WE PROCEED. This happens only after your authorization.

We can share this information either by text, email, or in person. This provides you a level of detail and confidence about what we see together that simply is not found anywhere else.

This means we operate at the highest level, perform the highest quality repairs, and we promise to never leave out any information that would prevent you from making an informed decision about your vehicle. We will never try to cheap out on a repair and cost you more money in the long run.

Rushing to complete a job only to have it fail or to leave you stranded is the worst possible situation. You don’t need the hassle, and doing work a second time is not profitable for us either.
Nobody want to walk or to be inconvenienced when their car is in for service. That’s why we offer free loaner vehicles to use while your car is in for service (you have to verify with us 1st about availability). Our loaner cars do leave with a full tank and they MUST return with a full tank. Sorry but we can’t pay for your gas while your car is here .

This doesn’t mean we are error free or we cant have a repeated parts failure. That’s why we back almost everything we do with a 2 year/24 month parts and labor warranty.
